Was trying to install a new cert for a client the other day. I bought the SSL cert on GoDaddy and wanted to install it via WHM. I haven’t done it in a while so I googled it to get a refresher course. i found this great site that does it step by step.

There is a new free tool called XRAY that allows you to view the CSS for any page without having to droll through lengthy html and css pages.

Simpley download the tool, add it to your bookmarks, and then select any element on a web page and a little screen pops up with the css info relating to that element such as width, height, positioning, colors, etc.

We recently moved to Leland NC and our cell phones don’t work inside our new home. Sometimes they work on a good day if we stand in our drive way and hold our tongue just right and stand on one foot and face West and there is no wind.

Our contract with Sprint won’t be up until Feb so we are bummed about speaking to relatives and such from our house.

However, my brother in law found out about Skype and told us about it. We immediately set it up and we were video chatting within minutes.

Skype allows you to talk for free over the internet as long as both parties are using Skype. Since we both have laptops with built in cams, my wife and I were video chatting with her brother in Raleigh in no time. Besides some minor internet chatter, the audio and video were great even though he’s on an HP and I was on a Mac Book Pro.

Impulse is announcing a sister service today to target a different market. Recently, I was introduced to the idea of ‘flipping websites’, an idea similar to flipping houses. It’s the same principle – find a website that needs some TLC, purchase it, fix it up and then resell it for a profit.

There are currently a couple websites out there that are involved with this ‘online marketplace’ and are providing website broker type services for the buying and selling of websites.

However, Web Broker Consultants will be a little different. Initially, our aim is to provide consulation services for those individuals or businesses that have higher price point projects and are seeking the services of web development companies or individuals. Many businesses have a general idea or big picture of what they want online, but do not have the technical jargon or lingo to communicate that to other people. Being in the web development/online business for 5 years dealing with a wide array of clients has provided us with this unique opportunity. Our aim is to help our clients find the right development resource that is applicable and capable for the job. We work as a liason between the client and the web development firm, from the initial meeting to the last line of code, we are there.

Our goals are 3 fold:

1. Finding the right resource for our clients
2. Providing a bridge of knowledge and communication between our clients and the web firm
3. Seeing the project come to a successful fruition from start to finish

We are currently working on a new website for the company and hope to have it completed by mid-July.

But I have to agree with him on this one – sort of like ‘you get what you paid for’.

If you pay $300 to your wife’s second cousin’s brother who has tinkered with HTML you will get a website that looks like a 3rd grader designed it.

I’ve gotten that phone call before – “I hate the way my website looks”, “The guy who did my website didn’t know what he was doing”, etc.

You wouldn’t expect to get a Mercedes Benz for the price of a Geo Prizm would you?
